If you had Mystery Boxes before the August 2025 wallet upgrade, your old boxes and any vested $EARNM are stored in your original Magic wallet. To keep them, you need to export that wallet to a self-custody crypto wallet such as MetaMask. This article shows you how.
Important deadline: The export link is available until February 2027. If you don't export your wallet before this date, you may permanently lose access to the Mystery Boxes and vested $EARNM in your original Magic wallet.
Before you start
You'll need:
- The email address you use for your Mode Earn App account.
- A self-custody crypto wallet to import your keys into. We recommend MetaMask because of its long track record and documentation. Other options include Trust Wallet, Coinbase Wallet, Rainbow, and Exodus.
- A secure place to store your private key (a password manager is ideal).
Step 1: Visit the Magic export page
- Open a web browser and go to https://reveal.magic.link/earnm.
- Enter the email address linked to your Mode Earn App account.
- Check your email for a verification link from Magic and click it.
Step 2: Reveal and save your private key
Magic will display your private key, which is a long string of letters and numbers. Your private key is the only way to access your Mystery Boxes and vested $EARNM — treat it like the password to a bank account.
Security warning:
- Copy the private key to a password manager or secure offline storage.
- Do not share it with anyone, paste it into chat apps, or email it to yourself.
- Mode Support will never ask for your private key. Anyone who does is attempting to steal your $EARNM.
- Once you lose a private key, it cannot be recovered by Mode or Magic.
Step 3: Import the key into MetaMask (or your chosen wallet)
The steps below are for MetaMask. If you use a different wallet, the names of the menus may differ but the process is similar.
- Open MetaMask (either the browser extension or the mobile app).
- If you don't already have a MetaMask wallet, create one. Save your MetaMask recovery phrase safely.
- Tap the account icon (top right on mobile, top center on desktop).
- Select Add account or hardware wallet, then Import account.
- Choose Private Key as the import type.
- Paste the private key you copied from Magic.
- Tap Import. Your Mystery Box wallet will appear as a new account in MetaMask.
Step 4: Connect to the EARN'M dApp
- Go to https://app.earnm.com/.
- Click Connect Wallet and select MetaMask.
- Approve the connection in MetaMask.
- Switch to the imported account that holds your Mystery Boxes.
You should now see your original Mystery Boxes and vested $EARNM. You can continue vesting or cash out from the dApp.

What if I don't want to use a crypto wallet?
You can choose the Swap option in the Mode Earn App instead, which exchanges your old boxes for new ones plus 500 bonus points. You won't keep your original vested $EARNM through the Swap path, but you can still export your old wallet later (before February 2027) to recover it. See My vested Mystery Boxes are gone! Can I move Mystery Boxes between wallets?
Mystery Boxes themselves can't be transferred between wallets — once revealed and added to a wallet, they stay there. However, you can manage where your $EARNM ends up:
- Reveal boxes in the wallet you want to use long-term.
- Withdraw $EARNM from your boxes once it's vested.
- Transfer the $EARNM to whichever crypto wallet you prefer to use.
So while the boxes are tied to a specific wallet, the underlying $EARNM is fully transferable once you withdraw it.
