If you are having trouble completing phone verification in the Mode Earn App, this article walks through the common causes and how to fix each.
Issue 1: Not receiving the SMS code
Submit only once, then wait
After entering your phone number, press Submit only once. Multiple submissions can cause delays or cause the system to throttle you temporarily. Give it a few minutes before assuming it did not work.
Use the most recent code
If you receive multiple codes (from earlier submissions), always use the latest one. Earlier codes expire when new ones are generated.
Check SMS delivery
- Verify your phone has cellular signal.
- Check that text messages from unknown numbers are not filtered.
- Look in your phone’s Messages app for any SMS from Mode Mobile or a short code.
Issue 2: Phone number format problems
Must be a real mobile number
Phone verification only works with real mobile phone numbers. It does not work with:
- Landline numbers.
- Virtual/VoIP numbers (Google Voice, TextNow, etc.).
- Toll-free or premium numbers.
Include the correct country code
- Make sure the country code in the app matches your actual mobile number.
- Example: for a US number
555-123-4567, enter country code+1.
Omit leading zeros
Many international number formats include a leading “0” for domestic dialing, but verification systems expect the number without the leading 0. Check your country’s format:
- UK:
+44 7911 123456(not+44 07911 123456). - Germany:
+49 151 12345678(not+49 0151 12345678).
Issue 3: Carrier or SMS blocks
Check SMS blocklist on your phone
- Open your phone’s Messages app.
- Go to Settings or Blocked numbers.
- Ensure the Mode Mobile number or shortcode is not blocked.
- Remove any blocks on unknown senders if that setting is on.
Contact your carrier
Some carriers block SMS from specific shortcodes or international numbers. If you have verified nothing is blocked on your phone but still do not receive codes:
- Call your carrier’s support line.
- Ask whether short-code SMS or verification SMS is blocked on your account.
- Request that they unblock verification SMS.
Issue 4: Network or connectivity problems
Check signal
Poor network reception can delay or prevent SMS delivery. Try:
- Moving to an area with better signal.
- Toggling airplane mode on and off to refresh cellular connection.
- Switching between Wi-Fi calling and cellular if available.
Wait for cooldown after multiple failures
Multiple failed attempts may trigger a temporary cooldown period:
- Wait at least 5 hours (or until any displayed penalty expires).
- Do not keep retrying during cooldown — it can extend the penalty.
- Once the cooldown ends, try again with a fresh attempt.
Issue 5: Still not working
If you have tried everything above and verification still fails:
- Open the Mode Earn App.
- Go to Settings → Ask for Support (or email
support@modemobile.com). - Include:
- The phone number you are trying to verify (with country code).
- Any error messages received.
- Screenshots of the issue if available.
- Screenshot of your SMS blocklist settings showing no Mode-related blocks.
