Before you can redeem your Mode Points, you must complete facial verification. This confirms you are a real person and protects the rewards system from fraud. This article walks through the in-app verification process, the backup partner verification flow, and best practices for success.
When facial verification is required
Facial verification is a one-time requirement. You are prompted to complete it the first time you visit the Redeem tab. Once verified, you can redeem points freely until something triggers re-verification (for example, suspicious activity or a major account change).
Method 1: In-app facial verification
Step 1: Start verification
- Open the Mode Earn App.
- Go to the Redeem tab.
- Follow the on-screen steps to take a photo of your face.
Tips for success
- Lighting: be in a bright, well-lit area. Avoid dark rooms or strong backlight behind you.
- Camera alignment: position your face inside the oval shape shown on screen.
- Avoid obstructions: remove sunglasses, masks, hats, or anything covering your face.
- Camera access: confirm the Mode Earn App has permission to use your camera (Android: Settings → Apps → Mode Earn App → Permissions).
- Camera functionality: make sure your front-facing camera lens is clean and working.
Method 2: Partner verification (if in-app fails)
If the in-app process does not succeed after a few attempts, you will be prompted to either contact Mode Support or complete verification via a secondary partner (a dedicated identity verification service).
If you use the partner verification path, you receive an email with a verification link and should follow the steps below.
Identity information
- Use your full legal name. It must exactly match your ID — no nicknames, correct spelling.

Have a valid ID ready. Accepted IDs include:
- Passport
- National ID card
- Driver’s license
- Residence permit
- Check your ID is valid. Not expired, not bent, not torn, not heavily damaged.
Environment and timing
- Well-lit space with light facing you (not behind you).
- 10-minute window. You have up to 10 minutes to complete verification. Prepare your ID before starting.
- Stable internet. Use a reliable Wi-Fi or cellular connection.
- Clean camera lens. Wipe smudges off your camera before starting.
Document capture
- Select the correct ID type in the verification flow.
- Passport: photograph the page with your photo, personal details, and MRZ (the machine-readable strip at the bottom).
- ID or residence permit: capture both the front and back.
- Photo quality: clear, sharp, no glare, no fingers in frame. The ID must fit fully inside the frame with all edges visible.
Security note
Complete verification yourself. Do not allow anyone to assist you, coach you through it, or pressure you to include anyone else in the photos. Mode’s partner uses anti-fraud checks that detect assisted verification — this causes failures and is a security risk for your own account.
If verification still fails
If neither in-app nor partner verification succeeds:
- Open the Mode Earn App.
- Go to Settings → Ask for Support.
- Describe the issue (which step failed, any error messages).
- Alternatively, on the web: go to the Mode support page and click the chat icon.
