To help protect our community and prevent fraud, Mode has updated its policies regarding PayPal accounts used for redemptions.
New Policy (Effective 2026)
Each PayPal email can now be linked to a maximum of two (2) Mode accounts. If more than two accounts are connected to the same PayPal email, additional accounts may be restricted or closed.
This change supports our Terms of Service, which prohibit creating multiple accounts or engaging in activity that could be considered fraudulent or deceptive.
Why did this change happen?
Mode actively monitors accounts to maintain a fair rewards environment. Our Terms allow us to suspend or terminate accounts if activity appears to violate the rules, harm the service, or involve fraud.
Limiting the number of accounts tied to a single PayPal helps:
Reduce abuse and duplicate redemptions
Protect legitimate users
Keep rewards sustainable
What happens if more than two accounts share one PayPal?
If our system detects more than two accounts linked to the same PayPal email:
Only the two most recently active accounts may remain eligible.
Additional accounts may be disabled or permanently closed in line with our Terms.
Please note that once an account is closed for policy reasons, it may not be restored.
Can family members share a PayPal?
We understand that households sometimes share payment methods. However, to stay compliant:
✅ You may have up to two accounts per PayPal email
❌ More than two accounts on the same PayPal is not permitted
If multiple people in your household use Mode, we strongly recommend that each person maintain their own PayPal account.
How to avoid issues
Link only one or two Mode accounts to a PayPal email
Do not create extra accounts to increase rewards
Ensure all account information is accurate and up to date
Providing inaccurate information or engaging in prohibited account behavior can result in termination of access to the service.
Important Reminder
Using the Mode app means you agree to follow our Terms of Service. Accounts found attempting to artificially increase rewards through multiple accounts or similar activity may be restricted.
