Linking your PayPal account to the Mode Earn App lets you redeem points directly to PayPal for cash payouts. This article walks through linking, explains what PayPal shares with Mode, and covers common questions about the process.
Before you start
- PayPal linking is currently Android only. iOS users cannot link PayPal at this time.
- PayPal redemption availability depends on your region. If PayPal does not appear in your Redeem tab, the payout is not yet supported in your country.
- Make sure the Mode Earn App is updated to version 1.100 or above.
How to link your PayPal account
Step 1: Open Wallet settings
- Open the Mode Earn App on your Android phone.
- Tap the Wallet (Library) icon in the upper-right corner.
Step 2: Open Linked Accounts
- Tap Settings from the menu.
- Under the Account section, tap Linked Accounts.
- Tap Link a New Account.
Step 3: Link PayPal
- In the pop-up, tap Link My PayPal.
- You are redirected to the PayPal login page.
- Enter your PayPal email and password to sign in.
- Approve the connection when PayPal asks you to authorize the link.
Step 4: Confirm linking
After authorizing, you return to the Mode Earn App and see a confirmation that PayPal is linked. You can now redeem points directly to PayPal from the Redeem tab.
What does Mode access from my PayPal?
The connection is designed to be minimal and privacy-preserving. PayPal shares only:
- Your email address — used to confirm the correct account.
- Your full name — required by PayPal for payout verification.
- Your PayPal user ID — used internally to route payouts to the correct PayPal account.
Mode does not access your PayPal balance, transaction history, bank information, or any other financial data. PayPal handles authorization on their side, and you can revoke the link at any time from your PayPal account settings or through the Mode Earn App.
Does linking PayPal make redemptions faster?
Yes. Linking PayPal significantly reduces processing errors:
- Direct routing: linked accounts receive payouts to the correct PayPal automatically, with no manual entry of PayPal addresses.
- Fewer rejections: PayPal rejects payouts sent to incorrect email addresses. Linking eliminates this error.
- Faster processing: payouts typically clear within 2 business days for linked accounts, versus up to 7 for manually entered PayPal addresses.
Linking is a one-time setup that makes every future redemption easier.
Every login requires authorization
For security, PayPal requires authorization every time the link is established or re-established. This protects your account:
- Mode cannot access your PayPal without your explicit authorization at the PayPal login page.
- If you unlink and want to relink later, you go through the authorization flow again.
- PayPal sends you an email notifying you of new authorizations — keep an eye on these in case of unauthorized attempts.
Troubleshooting
Link button does not work
- Verify you are on a stable internet connection.
- Ensure you are on Mode Earn App version 1.100 or above. Update from the Play Store if needed.
- Log out of the Mode Earn App and log back in to apply pending updates.
- Try again in a few minutes if PayPal’s authorization service is temporarily unavailable.
PayPal login fails
- Double-check your PayPal email and password.
- If you have two-factor authentication on PayPal, complete the 2FA step when prompted.
- If PayPal says the credentials are wrong repeatedly, reset your PayPal password on paypal.com, then try again.
PayPal does not appear in Linked Accounts
PayPal linking is Android only and region-dependent. If you are on Android in a supported region and still do not see it, contact Mode Support (Settings → Ask for Support) with your app version and country.
