There are multiple reset options on the Mode Earn Phone for different situations — from clearing cached data to fully wiping the device. This article explains each and walks through how to use them.
Which reset should I use?
- Restart (soft reset): for temporary issues like app crashes or frozen screens. Doesn’t delete anything.
- Reset app preferences: if specific apps aren’t behaving correctly. Doesn’t delete apps or data.
- Reset Wi-Fi, mobile, & Bluetooth: if you’re having network issues. Erases saved Wi-Fi passwords, Bluetooth pairings, and cellular settings.
- Factory reset (erase all data): for severe issues, to prepare the phone for a new user, or to wipe the device before returning it. Deletes everything.
How to access reset options
- Open the Settings app on your Mode Earn Phone.
- In the search bar at the top of Settings, type reset.
- The available reset options appear in the results.
- Select the option that fits your needs.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the reset.
Before you reset (especially before factory reset)
Factory reset is permanent and erases everything:
- All apps, contacts, photos, and files.
- All accounts signed into the phone.
- All settings and preferences.
- Downloaded music, saved Wi-Fi networks, and Bluetooth pairings.
Back up anything you want to keep before proceeding.
Backup checklist
- Google account: make sure contacts, calendar, and photos are synced to your Google account. Go to Settings → Accounts → Google and confirm sync is on.
- Photos: Google Photos auto-backup handles this if enabled.
- Downloaded files: copy important files to cloud storage or a microSD card.
- App data: some apps (WhatsApp, etc.) have their own backup systems — check those separately.
- Mode Earn points are safe — they’re tied to your Mode account, not to the device. After reset, sign back into the Mode Earn App and your balance will be there.
After the reset
- Your Mode Earn Phone restarts automatically.
- If you factory reset, you’ll need to complete initial Android setup again (language, Wi-Fi, Google sign-in).
- Reinstall the Mode Earn App from the Play Store and sign back in.
- Re-enable earning features in Mode Earn App Settings.
See Getting Started with Your Mode Earn Phone for the full post-reset setup flow.
Preparing the phone for a new user
If you’re giving the phone to someone else or returning it:
- Factory reset the device.
- Remove any microSD card and SIM card.
- Verify all personal data is gone before transferring.
For returns, see How to Return Your Mode Earn Phone.
If you can’t access Settings
If your phone is so unresponsive you can’t open Settings, you may be able to factory reset from recovery mode:
- Power off the phone completely.
- Hold Power + Volume Up for several seconds until the recovery menu appears.
- Use the volume buttons to navigate and Power to select.
- Select Wipe data / factory reset.
- Confirm and wait for the reset to complete.
This is an emergency option — you lose all data.
