How to Open and Reveal a Mystery Box

Mystery Boxes contain $EARNM rewards that you unlock through a reveal process. This article covers the two ways to reveal a Mystery Box: inside the Mode Earn App (simplest) and on the EARN’M dApp using a Mystery Box code (for advanced users).

Method 1: Reveal inside the Mode Earn App (recommended)

This is the easiest way to reveal Mystery Boxes. You do not need a crypto wallet.

Step 1: Find your available Mystery Boxes

  1. Open the Mode Earn App.
  2. Go to the Redeem tab at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Look for the EARN’M banner, which shows how many Mystery Boxes you have available to reveal.

Step 2: Start the reveal

  1. Tap the EARN’M banner to open the reveal page.
  2. Select the Mystery Box package you want to reveal (larger packages use more points).
  3. Review the small transaction fee. Mode covers most blockchain fees — you only pay a small residual.
  4. Tap to confirm the reveal.

Step 3: Confirmation code (first reveal within 7 days)

  • For your first reveal in any 7-day period, you receive a confirmation code by email.
  • Enter the code in the app promptly — the session will time out if you wait too long.
  • Keep the app open while confirmation completes (usually under a minute).

Step 4: View your results

  • After a successful reveal, you receive an email with a link to the EARN’M dashboard.
  • Your Mystery Box contents appear in the app and on the dashboard within a few minutes, occasionally taking up to a day during high blockchain traffic.
  • If anything goes wrong, you are notified and no points or Mystery Boxes are deducted.

Troubleshooting in-app reveals

  • Loading hangs: close the Mode Earn App completely and clear its cache (Android: Settings → Apps → Mode Earn App → Storage → Clear cache).
  • Reveal fails: you receive a free reveal credit — see What Happens if My Mystery Box Reveal Fails?
  • Rarity not showing after 8 hours: contact Support through Settings → Ask for Support.

Method 2: Reveal on the EARN’M dApp using a Mystery Box code

Use this method if you received a Mystery Box code outside the app (for example, from a partner promotion) or if you want to reveal directly into a self-custody wallet.

Before you start

  • You need a crypto wallet such as MetaMask connected to the Polygon network.
  • You need POL tokens in your wallet to cover transaction fees.

Steps

  1. Go to https://app.earnm.com/ and click Connect Wallet.
  2. Click Reveal Mystery Box Code and enter your code.
  3. Wait up to a minute for validation.
  4. Confirm the transaction in your crypto wallet.
  5. Wait for the reveal to complete. This can take a few hours during heavy network traffic — you can close the dApp and check back later.
  6. Once complete, you see your Mystery Box rarities on the dashboard.

Troubleshooting dApp reveals

  • Error during code validation: try again with the same code. If it continues to fail, verify the code was copied correctly.
  • Rarity not displayed after 8 hours: usually a network delay. Refresh the dashboard periodically. Contact Support if still missing after 24 hours.

What happens after reveal: vesting

Once a Mystery Box is revealed, a vesting period begins for the $EARNM inside.

  • Immediately after reveal: 10% of the $EARNM is available to cash out.
  • After 6 months: 50% is available.
  • After 12 months: 100% is available.
