You cannot directly exchange a Mode Prepaid Mastercard for an Amazon e-gift card, but you can use your Mastercard to purchase one on Amazon. This article walks through the steps.
Why this works
A Prepaid Mastercard is a regular payment card — Amazon accepts it like any other credit or debit card. So instead of exchanging, you use the Mastercard to purchase an Amazon Gift Card, which then gives you an Amazon balance.
Step 1: Search for Amazon Gift Cards
- Go to Amazon.com.
- In the search bar, type Amazon gift card.
- Click In Gift Cards in the dropdown that appears.
Step 2: Choose gift card style
- Select any design style of e-gift card — the style does not affect value.
- Choose Electronic Delivery (the e-gift card is sent via email immediately, faster than physical).
Step 3: Select the amount
- Choose a preset amount (e.g., $25, $50) or enter a custom amount.
- Ensure the amount does not exceed the available balance on your Mastercard.
If you want to use the full Mastercard balance, enter a custom amount matching your balance exactly.
Step 4: Checkout with your Mastercard
- Click Add to Cart, then Proceed to Checkout.
- When prompted for payment, click Add a credit or debit card.
- Enter your Mastercard card number, expiration date, and CVV from the email or card activation portal.
- Complete the purchase.
Step 5: Receive your Amazon e-gift card
After the purchase, you receive an email with your e-gift card code. Apply it to your Amazon account following the steps in How to Redeem and Use Your Amazon Gift Card.
Tips
- Verify Mastercard balance first. Log into the Mastercard activation portal to confirm your available balance before checkout.
- Enter email carefully. The e-gift card is sent only to the email address you provide during checkout.
- Check spam folder. If the e-gift card email does not arrive, check spam/junk.
- Use before Mastercard expires. Mode Prepaid Mastercards expire 90 days after claim — convert early to avoid losing unused balance.
